Fall has arrived! Crisp sweater weather, boots, layering, flannel, and leather. There’s a lot to love about fall, and it also seems to be the season that inspires change in both women’s hair and makeup routines.
This season we’re seeing some of the bright and vibrant colors of summer sticking around when it comes to makeup. Perhaps it’s because we’re still enjoying being able to show off our entire face more than before without having to forego everything but eye makeup.
Our expert makeup artists are predicting that everyone will still be having fun with their makeup looks, that inspiration will continue to come from those ‘fun’ decades (the 70s through the 90s), and that there will be plenty to celebrate with both natural-looking colors and fun, vibrant hues.
Defined lips with lip liner. A 90s reawakening of sharply defined lips is trending this fall. Shades of greige, chocolate browns, dirty plums, taupe, and terracotta stains are huge lip colors for fall – but don’t forget the lip liner. For a hallmark 90s look, outline your lips with a brown lip pencil and top it off with a clear gloss.
Dewy finish. Many makeup artists are seeing dewier, breathable coverage as the weather cools down this season. A tinted moisturizer provides light, buildable coverage with a dewy finish while keeping your skin moisturized from the dry winter air.
Blush revival. When the weather cools down, blush makes its way back into the limelight, and this season is no exception. Berry, coral, and bright pink are all colors that help give some refreshing color to your cheeks, but if you like the monochromatic look, use lipstick for both your lips and cheeks.
Eye-conic appeal. Mascara paired with a graphic eyeliner is hot this season. Volumizing mascara with a soft, smoky effect from eyeliner is a great urban look. If you want to elongate your eyes to make them look wider and bigger, cat eyeliner is a recurring beauty staple. Another great look for fall is a bright color of eyeshadow right in the inner corner of your eyes. It’s subtle but can make a big statement when done right.
Monochromatic charm. Another fall trend is the monochromatic look. Take your favorite shade (we recommend a matte hue) and use it on your lips, cheeks, and lids for a wonderfully magical look.
